This work was made in response to photographic portraits of participants in the work of Marina Abramović: The Artist Is Present. Meeting the gaze of Abramović brought forth deep emotions from each of the viewers, whose expressions were captured by the photographer. The focal point of these works, which are appropriated photographic images, is the capturing of expression and emotion portrayed. The highly absorbent nature of the paper used lends an immediacy to the work.
